I never knew a school year could fly by so fast! Where is the time going?

January was filled with so many fun and wonderful events. Our Awards Day was filled with proud parents, proud staff, and excited students. We had our school-wide Spelling Bee and our winner was Graham M.! Our Spelling Bee Runner-Up was Cierra S. Then came the announcement of our Board Scholars. We are so very proud of these students for their academic success throughout the years: Kate C., Xan J., Amanda K., Alan M., James S., and Samuel T.! These students will be honored by DeKalb Schools and the DeKalb Board of Education in a special ceremony on March 1st at Miller Grove High School. Last was the school-wide Geography Bee and our winner was Matthew M.! Our Geography Bee Runner-Up was James S. Our Leopard Boosters were treated to a pizza luncheon by our Partners in Education, the Bank of North Georgia, and Mrs. Berberich will take our Livsey Reading Bowl Team (Caroline F., Mabel H., Savannah T., Hannah S., Ansley J., Stephanie C., Dagmawi A., Matthew M., and Eli W.) to compete in the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 28th. Good luck, Leopards! Our 4th and 5th graders put on an outstanding performance that included song, acting, set changes, sound effects, and the playing of instruments. What a great job these students did under the direction of Ms. Hardy, our music teacher. We are so proud of all our students for their outstanding accomplishments, and special congratulations to our students mentioned above.

A couple of former Livsey students who attend Tucker Middle School, Stanford F. and Jake B., were part of a “Future City” competition, and their team placed 4th overall out of about 150 teams (that’s more than 450 students!). We love to hear stories about our former students’ successes!

Big Livsey Thank-You’s to:
Dr. David Shapiro of Wellsource Chiropractic and Rehab on Brockett Rd. He donated new bicycle helmets to many of our students.
The Bank of North Georgia for awarding our students on Principal’s List with a silver dollar, and our Leopard Boosters with a pizza luncheon. The Bank of North Georgia also funds all of our class instructional field trips, sponsors our in-school banking program, and serves on our School Council! All our parent and community volunteers who work with our students.

Upcoming events that you will want to tell your neighbors about:
Kindergarten and 1st grade Round-Up on Friday, March 2nd for students not currently attending Livsey School, and the PreK Lottery on Tuesday, April 17th (parents MUST live in the Livsey attendance area to register for the PreK Lottery).
